He was working for GE Medical when he became a Christian July 1985, and he has been a committed teacher and worker in bus, school, children’s, nursery, hospitality ministries as well as teaching local church Bible College for nearly 25 years.

Shawn has been and remains a committed family woman. Since giving her life to Christ in June 1985, and married in 1986, she has given birth to 7 amazing and beautiful children, and awaits meeting the eighth in Heaven soon.

WHY HOPE IN HEAVEN

Shawn was exposed to the toxic chemicals involved in a meth lab next door while pregnant with our sixth child Hope. We were missionaries in Stockton, CA and were living in a very rough neighborhood. The next-door neighbor died and his dad dumped all the chemicals into the sewer catch basin in front of our house.

Hope was born with a very rare disease called Tuberous Sclerosis. TS affects 008% of the population, and can present in malformations called tubers. She was a living miracle, as she had 10 tubers in her heart alone, and tubers in every other vital organ. Hope had a short life span on earth of exactly 20 months to the day, yet she impacted a great number through her life. Her memory continues to impact many today.

The name, Hope in Heaven, therefore has a very special meaning to us! We know that Hope awaits us in Heaven, but the events involving her changed both of us. We are fundamentally different people today than we were. We have much more hope than before, despite the difficulties and pain. We have grown immensely in the promises and love of Father God, the sacrificial element of love through Jesus Christ, and the life that can be breathed into us through the Holy Spirit.

We are, and we have, Hope in Heaven!
